Couderay Waters Regional Land Trust

The Couderay Waters Regional Land Trust (CWRLT) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) land conservation organization that works with landowners in the Northwest Wisconsin region to protect and preserve the natural resources of their property.

Due to the unique diversity and extensive beauty of the natural resources in the region, our land is under constant pressure from development and acquisition.  This pressure has driven up land prices and sales, which has reduced the amount of pristine, undeveloped land in it's natural state, as well as creating numerous land parcels that are fragmented.

Unfortunately, both of these factors work against the efforts of preservation.  Once a parcel of land is developed, it is almost always permanently lost to preservation - rarely does developed land get restored back to it's pristine state and preserved.  Fragmented land parcels provide challenges to development and to preservation efforts because of the limited amount of area to work with.

Our goal is to work with landowners to help preserve significant portions of the natural heritage of this region for the benefit of present and future generations.  We are particularly interested in protecting land that has exceptional biological diversity and provides green space and natural habitat.  We are also interested in protecting forests that have been managed for sustainability and reduced impact on surrounding lands.
