About CWRLT

The Couderay watershed region of Sawyer and Washburn Counties in NW Wisconsin has a rich and diverse natural environment that includes forests, wetlands, lakes and streams. Pressures for development are strong and changes are inevitable. In the face of these influences, a continuing effort to preserve our natural heritage must be mounted and sustained. The continuation of the high quality of life that is possible in such a setting cannot be taken for granted. This is why the Couderay Waters Regional Land Trust was formed and organized in 2002 by the conservation-concerned local landowners in the Couderay watershed region of Sawyer and Washburn counties. Our members all know that without organized and dedicated assistance, the natural heritage of our watershed area will be permanently lost or destroyed.

The Couderay Waters Regional Land Trust (CWRLT) is a private, community based, non-profit organization established to protect land and water resources for the public benefit. It has been organized to permanently protect important natural resources in the Couderay River watershed area. The land resources sought to be protected by the Trust have natural, recreational or scenic value to current and future generations.

CWRLT is a non-stock, non-profit Wisconsin corporation with a Sec. 501(c) (3) tax exemption. This tax exemption allows all contributions (membership dues, member donations, and donations of conservation easements or land titles to the Trust) to be tax deductible.
